Abstract

The restless leg syndrome (RLS) and periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD) are sleep related movement disorders and mainly idiopathic. Recently, functional MRI studies in the cases of RLS/PLMD showed that the central generators were in-volved in the pathogenesis of RLS/PLMD. We herein report a patient with RLS following the left medial medullary in-farction. We suppose that RLS symptom in this case was caused by destructive lesion in the reticular formation of medial medulla and dysfunction of the diencephalospinal doparminergic pathway.
